Nurturing confident swimmers for life!

Kylie is the owner and founder of Kylie’s Swim School.

A competitive swimmer growing up in Camden, country New South Wales, Kylie’s love for swimming evolved from Sussex Inlet on the south coast where she grew up holidaying with family. An active family of five, you’d easily catch Kylie in the water swimming, boating or canoeing.

After finishing year 12 in 1999, Kylie went on a 12-month adventure where she worked at a summer camp in the USA and taught canoeing, worked wakeboarding and skiing, and found herself assisting lifeguards and learn-to-swim teachers. It was during this time Kylie discovered her passion for teaching people how to enjoy the water as much as she did.

Upon moving home to Australia, Kylie went straight into working at her local swim school – which set her up for a rapid rise in management and her swim teaching career.

By 2003 she had been part of the management team for Paul Sadler Swimland in Victoria and was eventually selected to oversee the company’s first interstate venture at their newest site in Townsville!

After almost 10 years growing that business to a successful swim school and winning the prestigious ‘Paul’s Choice’ award for outstanding contribution to the business, Kylie stepped out of the learn to swim industry and continued to hone her business skills leading the administration team for a large Industrial Services company heading up projects on the Karratha Gas Plant in Western Australia.

2017 saw Kylie and her young family move back to Townsville and open her very own Franchised Swim School which had always been her passion and true skill set.

By 2020, despite floods and a pandemic, the swim school had won the ‘Townsville’s Best Swim School’ award.

In 2021, Kylie rebranded her business and it was time to put her own name on the wall truly reflecting her values & philosophy of nurturing skilled, safe and confident swimmers for life.

In 2022, with the growth in Kylie’s Rasmussen Swim School she saw a need to expand her business and open a second location in Garbutt, Townsville.  Currently, Kylie’s Learn to Swim Schools host hundreds of families per week who attend from all over Townsville and Surrounding areas; Ayr, Charters Towers, Paluma, Harvey’s Range, Ingham.

As a mum of two daughters, Kylie loves nothing better than for her and her team to get to know their Swim School Families and ensure they feel seen, heard and valued like she would want if she was investing in her children’s education.
